Meadow House

Meadow House was conceived for a young family looking to trade the pace of Zagreb for a quieter life surrounded by nature. Set on the edge of a meadow with a beautiful stream running along the rear of the site, the project embraces the qualities that drew the family there in the first place. Large openings from the living spaces and master bedroom provide generous views of the water and the rolling hills beyond, making the landscape part of everyday life.

The architecture takes its cues from the local surroundings. The simple gabled form, white plastered walls and restrained palette are inspired by the houses and agricultural buildings found throughout the area, reinterpreted in a contemporary way. Every decision was guided by the same idea: to create a home that is beautiful, practical and efficient to build. The house is based on a carefully developed modular grid that allows standard construction elements to be used wherever possible, reducing complexity while creating generous, light filled spaces for family life.
